Make the First Five Count

The First Five Years

Easterseals North Georgia knows the first five years of life lay the foundation for a child’s well-being and success. As a leading provider of child development services, we are here to be your partner in raising a healthy and happy child. We will help you be aware of the five key growth areas during these critical years before your child starts kindergarten.

  • Relationships
  • Exploring & Learning
  • Communication
  • Playing
  • Moving

Because children learn and grow at different rates, even the most attentive parents can miss some important milestones. Every year, more than a million children enter school with an undiagnosed developmental delay, and ESNG seeks to change that. We want to ensure all children start kindergarten with the right skills to succeed alongside their peers.

Together, we can make the first five years count. ESNG offers a free, comprehensive, and confidential online screening tool to help guide and keep track of your child’s growth and development during these first five years. Make the First Five Count starts with screening to help identify potential developmental delays in these areas, and an ongoing tracking helps gauge progress towards certain milestones.

Make the First Five Count Screening

Children develop skills and reach milestones at their own pace. How is your child doing? We encourage you to take 10–20 minutes to check with the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition™ (ASQ-3). You can start at any time.

Based on your responses, your results will help you see if your child’s developmental progress is on time and alert you to any potential concerns that you can talk over with your healthcare provider. We will ask you to come back from time to time to check in and learn more about your child’s development over time. You can use this tool when your child is at least 4-weeks-old through your child’s fifth birthday.
