Early Intervention
Babies Can’t Wait. Why Should We?
The early identification and treatment of children with developmental delays is critical to their future success. Throughout the foundational first years of life, early intervention services and supports can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to learn new skills and overcome challenges. Our Babies Can’t Wait Early Intervention Program helps young children with disabilities or who are at risk of delay achieve their cognitive, social/emotional, communicative, adaptive, and physical development goals. By providing screening, evaluation, and treatment for children plus education and support for their family members, we ensure that they have increased independence and will be prepared to meet with success when they enter school.
Early Intervention services are available for children birth to 3 years who show a developmental delay, who are at risk for a delay, have a disability or atypical behaviors. Evaluations are no cost to parents.
Our Services
We offer an array of services based on the child's needs. Our services are provided by licensed/certified pediatric therapists who have extensive experience and are specialized in working with small children. Interventions may include occupational therapy to help an infant learn to hold her bottle; physical therapy to help her learn to roll over; or speech therapy to help her learn to eat or speak.

Services are provided in a child's natural environment, meaning wherever the child spends most of their day. That may be the child's home, a caregiver's home, or childcare center. Services may even be provided virtually or at other community locations. Our main goal is to work with parents and caregivers in their everyday routines and natural environments where children learn best and we can support the needs of the entire family.
ESNG administers Georgia's Babies Can't Wait (BCW) early intervention program for Gwinnett, Rockdale, and Newton Counties, currently supporting over 3,000 children. A developmental evaluation is provided at no cost to families to determine whether the child is eligible for the program due to a developmental delay or disability. Children ages 0-36 months with developmental delays or certain diagnosed conditions are eligible to receive early intervention services regardless of income.
